Why?

Why, why, why Rebrand? This is a question we have been asking ourselves over the past year here at CabinPress Studio, it seems longer because so much has been going on "behind the presses". Mom is finding out that Rebranding a business is not something she should take lightly. There is a lot of thought, planning, hard work and of course finances to pull off a good rebrand. A rebrand can be an evolution or a full revolution – most of the worlds best brands have undergone some form of rebranding over the years. The upshot is that when done correctly it can greatly enhance a businesses profile, increase sales and generate new interest in the company. So, my days are spent in the Studio just pondering + thinking about what the next few months will hold in store. The process has begun!
What are some of your favorite Brands?

Branding

We have been really busy around the Studio and Mom is involved in a huge re-branding of CabinPress Studio. Here is the start of what is in store for everyone that has followed us and been involved with our little Letterpress Studio over the years. Enjoy what you see and keep an eye out for a new logo + website in the next several months. Besides having springtime just around the corner, it is an exciting time here and I wanted to thank everyone for all your purchases of our Bespoke Letterpress goodies! Are you excited for spring as much as we are?

Vintage {Love}

Had to put in the fire plug for Dad!
I do love typewriters... I really do + of course I love type, did you notice today's post is in Courier, in memory of the typewriter.
It does not happen often, actually, it never happens anymore, I always loved receiving mail typed on a lovely typewriter.  I love how the typos make it look like someone really typed it... not just a machine auto-correcting your spelling as you go.  I love how once you think something and type those keys it is on the page for all to see. I remember all the government forms I had to do over my career that had errors on them, yes me with errors! You can't edit once you have written - you can only go back and xxxxxx over the words you do not want, leaving obvious scars on your work. Then there was "white out" "yellow out" and even "pink out" for all the carbon sheets. Wow, what a trip down memory lane. I do love typewriters still.
How about you? If you still use one please send us a letter, we love
seeing XXXXX's and you could even add some OOOOO's. Tail wags + Happy Valentine's Day to all.

Happy Valentine's Day Love {bug} -- A Tutorial

Now that it is February I can safely put up my AirHead's Valentine Day contest entry! I happen to read about the contest on the Alt Summit blog that I faithfully check in on, each and every day --- dreaming that someday I could attend. These Love {bugs} are my entry. It is amazing what you can do with AirHeads candy if you are into crafting. I hope you enjoy making these as much as I did and sharing them + popping them in your mouth too, yummy!! Oh, you can even make them into a pin or magnet and save them all year long to make you smile. Tuck some in your house plants for a spot of Colour!
You can check out (and vote!) for my entry on the AirHead's Facebook page!

The Love {bugs} captured to be given to your Valentine
I used the Cherry AirHeads for the body and the White Mystery for the eyes
One strip can make 10 Love {bugs}. Wash hands. Cut strip into 10 slices. Put 1 slice on parchment paper and microwave for approx. 5 seconds
You can either push softened AirHead piece into a small spoon and put in freezer for approx 5 minutes, or you can roll the softened AirHead piece in between your hands to make a round little ball, make extra to pop into your mouth!
shape body. use edible ink pen for steps 6 and 7. make tiny round balls with the White Mystery AirHead bar, you will            have plenty. your Love {bug} is done. I drew some Mason Jars in Adobe Illustrator and printed them out on Kraft                heavy 81/2" x 11" paper and then cut them out.
use a small piece of White Mystery AirHead candy to stick the Love {bug} in the jar & ENJOY!

Bad Hair Day.

With the change of season here the wind is out of control today! Don't you just hate it when everything is flying around and you have to be careful not to be hit with lawn furniture or a trash can, or worse yet sticks in your hair.

As we head out to the Studio to work on some big printing projects we just smile and are glad it is an indoor type of day! Enjoy your day too. Dad took these photos during our Alpaca Ranch visit last month.

Antiquated.

an·ti·quat·ed/ˈantiˌkwātid/

Old-fashioned, outdated or obsolete. WOW, I never thought what I do is obsolete! So many         folks ask me about the ages of my Printing Presses so I thought I would introduce you to the           "pretty production princess" of CabinPress Studio. I would like you to meet my Old-fashioned      printing press, Sequoia. She is a beauty indeed, an Old Style Chandler & Price, circa 1884.           She came to us from California, hence the name. D + friends now are "experienced" movers            and I would highly recommend the group for any 1500 pound moving jobs in your future!
If you look close you can see my Periodic Table of Typefaces ... more on that disaster later!

twenty SEVEN year itch.

27 years ago, my life changed. Surrounded by of our closest friends and family, I walked into the Cabin to marry my best friend on a {heavy} snow filled Autumn day in the mountains. One of the few things I remember in that moment was realizing the time was right. After dating for two years, spending thousands in phone bills {cell phones --- what the heck were those, we made our calls on a rotary phone!!!}, driving miles + miles, to + from Grand Canyon National Park, we were ready to become each others counterbalance. Twenty Seven years into my marriage, I'm itching. Itching to get closer to Doug!

If I knew then what I know now, I'd sprint into his arms and shout I DO because the last twenty seven years have been made of the stuff dreams are made of. Sort of like a glitter covered chocolate bar, only better!
Doug, I love you. Thank you for being the better part of me. Happy Anniversary!

Alt Summit + Autumn Luck?

If I had dew claws I would have them crossed for Mom .... here is why: I secretly know she is obsessed     with Letterpress, paper blogs, photography, smart ideas and outdoor adventures to say the least. The     2013 Alt Summit, which takes place in Salt Lake City, is in it's fourth year (28 dog years). Tickets sold out quickly.
"For blogging inspiration and business advice check out the new Alt blog" and see for yourself. As with   the above New Yorker cartoon we love to Innovate here at CabinPress Studio and if Mom has some      Autumn luck she will be heading to the Alt Summit to participate with other creative
entrepreneurs. Altitude Design Summit is the place to be. Because they feed those obsessions. I can "picture" Mom doing this, so can she!

Life.

I never knew my Dad way back when "film cameras" were all the rage! Here he is at his Firefighter Graduation.

Here is my Dad today! I am glad he will be around all the time now to pet me. He is my Hero.
Moose SignatureThere is a whole new kind of life ahead, full of experiences just waiting to happen. Some call it "retirement." I call it bliss.

President Obama.

WOW... Mom + Dad left me to go listen to the President speak at Colorado State University! They told me it was too hot so I had to stay at home and watch the cat.... humm.

It was a really worthwhile experience to be surrounded by 13,000 people! Next time Mom will bring a "real" camera and stand next to a giant.

Colour.

This week for Mom's Passionate Observer photo challenge she was to explore the use of colour and light. Right up Mom's alley! Actually she obsessed over the subject all week and did not remember to pet me much. The Studio attracts the early morning light which I love. No one comes by early in the morning so I can spend some good "porch laying" time getting ready for my day while the Printing Presses start waking up.

Seven.

A little patch I was keeping for my birthday," he said; "but after all, what are birthdays? Here today and gone tomorrow. Help yourself, Tigger. - Eeyore

Here I am thinking "Wow, another great year ...."
Mom surprised me with a Gluten Free Apple Pie and she even added some of her special Wood Type. I waited patiently until Dad took the shot, while I balanced my birthday hat ......

I am trying not to dive into this beauty + also hoping my hat stays on, or at least that little white bally thing ....
Oooopppssss...... the darn hat fell.
Yeah, I FINALLY got to chow down! Don't worry Mom + Dad took pieces BEFORE I got mine. YUMMY. What a great      Birthday, I don't feel a day over 21, again!

Snip·pets.

Well, Mom is trying to catch up with the Passionate Observer group, so hang on...Here we go!
Meet my two new friends who carried all my "stuff" on our month long Colorado Trail hike, I LOVE them!  Mom + Dad called them my "Speechless Brothers".
Here I am during break time, do you like my clown nose!? My main job was to watch over the Llamas and make              sure they were having a nice time carrying all my "Stuff". Someday's they were not happy.... hummmmm.
My big paws loved rest time + day dreaming of the Trail. Our elevation is 12,500, which means NO TREES!
I saw A LOT of this!

Giving my BIG paws a rest for the day. Mom is excited to participate and meet everyone in the group. She will be             sharing LOTS of photos of our trip + our Colorado life. It is good to be back home and settle into my daily routine             as a Therapy Dog + the Studio Manager @ CabinPress Studio, our little Letterpress Shop.

Tooling Along in Week Three.

This week Mom's class was given a group assignment, that is like when I am told to sit or stay, I do it! We all take a photograph of the same subject, Fences. This was really fun for us to head out to this one that we pass a lot on our daily runs.
The next mission was to take a photograph using "negative" space. This kitty really scared me, but Mom thought it was the "per"fect model....humm.

Souvenir Foto School - Week Two Already!

We had a fun time checking out some perspective "hiking buddies" ... some call them Speechless Brothers! Cosmo is his name and I think he really liked me. This weeks photo assignment was to "take out clutter" from the photo and compose it a different way. Mom really loves his eyes, what do you think?
